For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. If you endured chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. (Hebrews 12:6-8).
We often think when God is disciplining or chastening us He does it to hurt us. We see in this scripture that He does it because a good Father should chasten or bring correction to his sons and daughters that He loves. He is there to bring correction out of love not hate. Parents that are balanced with their discipline and not abusing their children is how God is with us.
God loves us unconditionally. He wants to see us mature spiritually and walk in victory.
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes that it may bear more fruit (John 14:2). In order for us to grow spiritually there are times where God cuts things away that hinder our spiritual maturity.
Stop wanting God not to discipline you or cut things away that hinder where He is taking you. In the end, if you allow the pain of the things and people being cut away, and harsh seasons, God will be glorified. You will also mature spiritually.
When I lost yet another job I thought I had failed and God was angry with me. I think many of us feel that God is mad at us for a wrong decision we made.
We think he is angry at our mistakes but the truth of matter is whether a mistake or not God is never surprised and He is not angry. He just wants to see us be more mature spiritually and walk in victory. God is a God of progression.
He is always seeking that we are living in His divine will. He wants us to walk in victory. That is why He sent Jesus to set us free from sin. He prunes us to help us to grow.
When you go through trials I want to start thanking God. I want you to start to think He is just pruning me so that I can grow. It might not feel good but it is for our good.
He is just pruning you for greater.
