Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Faith is believing what has not yet come to pass. Over the years God has shown me that faith is also about action. “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). God wants us to believe in the unseen things we hope He will manifest in our lives through His promises to us.
Many years ago I believed for affordable housing but it seemed like it was not God’s will for me. I doubted and lived in regular housing and struggled to maintain it. I began to yearn for affordable housing so I decided to try for it. It didn’t work and I was discouraged. I didn’t know that two years would pass and I would apply again in a new location and be approved immediately.
Looking back it took time and unshakeable faith but God opened the door and I walked right into a blessing.
In 2015, I used to drive by a Hyundai dealership and speak that my next car would be a Hyundai. In 2016, I needed a new car and so did my sister. My desire and belief was to give her mine and get something a little newer for myself. I didn’t know how and I was in between jobs. God said call the bank. I called the bank and I was approved for a car loan. I did the necessary paperwork, found a car, and gave my sister my old car. The newer car was a Hyundai Elantra!
Unshakeable faith does not mean you don’t doubt. In all these testimonies there was doubt but I didn’t get stuck there I kept praying and speaking what I believed God could do.
God has given us the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). Our faith grows as we enter new situations that require us to trust, believe, and depend on God. Faith is a journey and we all get stronger in our faith walk when we trust God.
I will be honest there are times when things don’t happen like we believe but even in those times remember Sarah and Abraham. It took them a lifetime before Isaac was born. Faith takes patience. Sometimes God knows we are not prepared so He makes us wait. We have to remember to trust His timing and know He won’t withhold no good thing from us.
We live in a time where society tells us we can have everything now. With God things take time. You can’t rush God. You do need to be patient and trust God. None of us should want anything out of season because you may face obstacles. Faith is assurance that when it does happen it is the right time.
Life is a faith walk. Sometimes you have to go in blind, but trusting God. Sometimes our hope is all we have. Sometimes in hoping we face obstacles.
I have spent the last 6 years trying to start what I truly know God showed me would be a business that would help support women in whatever community it becomes established. It has been held up, I have asked for support to only be turned down. God has spoken and said wait and allow Me to build it. I’m on hold with it, but I am trusting that one day it will change the lives of women facing adversity. All I can do is stand on His promises.
I have seen God move through my faith. I understand things happen in their season. Life is a faith walk. Keep believing and stay on path.
