Many of us have heard the phrase “walk into your purpose”, but do we understand it? Some of us would say walking into our purpose is hard. Self-help books often try to unpack it and give insight. Let’s be honest some of us have read them and yet still been clueless about how to apply them to our own life.
Walking into your purpose is a journey and there are levels to it. In some ways, we grow and mature as we are pursuing it. Even once you are doing what you know you were called to do you are still maturing in it. We have to give ourselves enough space and grace to allow God to direct our paths. Sometimes the road of walking into our purpose is lonely, but rewarding once we reach its fullness.
Social media would lead us to believe most of us are already where we want to be which is far from the truth. We are all at different levels and God intended it to be this way. If everyone was already there then innovation would be limited. Because someone is alone thinking outside the box and putting their own flare on an idea is why we continue to be able to evolve as a world.
If you are struggling to understand your purpose allow God to help you. Usually, it’s the thing you do that brings you happiness. It could be making a craft, cooking, sewing, writing, teaching a skill, gardening, drawing, sculpting, designing clothes, tattooing, and the list goes on. The thing you do well or the thing you do that is a challenge but you enjoy it is where your purpose lies.
Let’s see what God says about purpose.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
“The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord, and he delights in his way” (Psalm 37:23).
God created us to live and walk in our purpose. His timing is always sufficient. We have to trust the process and keep striving until we reach our destiny and are living our purpose. Sometimes we look at those who seemed to have arrived and forget they also had a journey and hurdles to climb. We should not be envious of anyone because we do not know what it is like to walk in their shoes. God has given each of us our own path. God is ready to show us what He has in mind. Even if you are clueless start by praying and asking God to show you.
Never give up. When you give up, you stop progress. Keep walking until you reach God’s desired purpose for your life.
