Life has a way of throwing challenges at us—unexpected losses, disappointments, and moments of deep uncertainty. In those times, it’s easy to feel discouraged, alone, or even question if things will ever get better. But the good news is, you don’t have to stay in that place. You have the power to encourage yourself and trust God, even when life doesn’t make sense.
Speak Life Over Yourself
The words you say about yourself matter. When David faced distress, he “encouraged himself in the Lord” (1 Samuel 30:6). He reminded himself of God’s faithfulness, His power, and His promises. Do the same! Speak God’s Word over your life:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
“God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
“All things work together for good for those who love God.” (Romans 8:28)
Even when you don’t feel strong, declaring these truths will shift your mindset and strengthen your faith.
Remember God’s Faithfulness
Think back to times when God carried you through tough seasons. He has never left you before, and He won’t start now. Sometimes, the enemy tries to make us forget our progress. But looking back at God’s track record builds confidence. His ability to do it again is evident.
Keep a journal of past victories.
Reflect on answered prayers.
Remind yourself: God is still in control.
Surrender Your Worries to Him
It’s natural to want to control everything. However, real peace comes when you surrender your fears to God. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to “not be anxious about anything.” Instead, in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. When you release your burdens, He replaces them with peace that surpasses understanding.
Pray daily, even if it’s just a simple, “Lord, I trust You.”
Write down your worries and physically hand them over to God in prayer.
Meditate on scriptures that reassure you of His protection and provision.
Keep Moving Forward
Encouraging yourself doesn’t mean you ignore reality; it means you choose faith over fear. Even if you don’t see the full picture, take small steps forward, trusting that God is guiding you.
Surround yourself with people who uplift you.
Listen to worship music and messages that feed your faith.
Keep doing what you can, and let God handle the rest.
God is Not Done With You
No matter how difficult today feels, remember: this is just a chapter. It is not the whole story. God is still writing your future, and He has good plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11). So stand firm. Lift your head. Remind yourself—God is with me. I am not alone. Better days are ahead!
Be encouraged today. Trust in Him. Keep pressing forward. He’s got you!
