Treating others the way God commands, is just that a command. It is not optional. The devil is a liar for all the people saying you can treat people any way you want. God commands we treat each other with godly love. He commands it no matter the race, creed, color, disability, intellect, financial status, class, gender, etc.
There is a major problem in society today. We discard people like last night’s leftovers. It is a sad state of affairs when we devalue another person’s life for superficial reasons. This was never the way God wanted it to be. People keep killing people for senseless reasons. Then people justify with silly remarks like “Moses was a murderer and God still used him”. Moses was an example, not a rule to be followed.
God’s commandment was the rule. “Love thy neighbor as yourself”(Matthew 22:39). God wanted all of us to love people as we love ourselves. The problem with so many people is they do not love themselves. If this is true you need to begin to work on how you view yourself and others.
The moment we get to a place where we can discard life and sleep well at night the world has a problem. This is exactly where we are at this point in society. It is not new, life has always been discarded, but there used to be many giants willing to stand up and fight for human life. There are a few giants, but most people are turning their heads and saying, “That has nothing to do with me” or ‘That is not my problem”. Jesus led with compassion, and He put the needs of others first. We may not be able to be Jesus, but we can make a difference in the lives of others by treating people with love and compassion.
This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you (John 15:12).
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34).
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself (Philippians 2:3).
The significance of these scriptures is that we understand this without any questions. Those who do not value the lives of others and the issues that impact them will always have an issue with treating people with love and kindness. God understands that dealing with people is not easy. He understood it wasn’t easy for Jesus, yet Jesus still did what God asked of Him no matter the cost.
As a believer, I will never be Jesus, but I can treat people with dignity and respect knowing I will get it wrong sometimes. The respect part is when I get it wrong, I am willing to get it right unless the other party declines the opportunity to fix it. It takes a humble person even as a believer to put this into practice.
Treating others with respect and dignity would change our fallen world drastically. God knew that it would be this way. Though this is true every little difference made gradually has a big impact.
If you get nothing else from this message, get this, love and treating people with kindness costs nothing but effort. Another nugget had Jesus not given up His life for ransom you and I would be nailed to the law like Jesus was nailed to the cross for all. Treating people right and having a heart for the broken regardless of who hurt you or who did you wrong is what God is commanding.
Lead life with love at the forefront of all you do (Corinthians 16:14). Love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:39).
