No matter how much God has provided for you this year remember the less fortunate. Remember them because Jesus did. Jesus was born our savior, and He is the reason for this holiday season.
While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them (Luke 2:6-7).
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So, they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger (Luke 2:10-16).
Beyond the presents, gifts, feasts, and fellowships with others is Jesus’ birth to a world where people needed to be saved, forgiven, and walk in freedom from the spiritual chains holding them back. This is why we celebrate Christmas. Though this is true Christmas is a pagan holiday due to Santa Claus representing the Greek God Saint Nicholas.
Saint Nicholas goes back centuries, but the modernized Christmas holiday is centered in paganism. The gifts represent Saint Nicholas and many eras later the representation of the demonic deity Krampus who became the face of Christmas. Krampus represented a balance between good and evil and he tormented children.
In our world today Christmas has evolved into a time at the end of the year when we celebrate Jesus’ birth into our world. We honor this with gift-giving to those we love. We honor this season through the lens of Jesus and give to those who are struggling or who often get overlooked.
This season is not about Santa Claus. It is about the Risen Savior Jesus Christ because Jesus is the reason for the season.
