Renew Your Strength

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

All of us know what it means to be weary or tired of life and going through so many challenges. When we look at this scripture it tells us that waiting on the Lord is the answer. Waiting is not just sitting idly by. Waiting on God is trusting, believing, and being obedient to what God may be asking of us no matter how difficult it may be. Sometimes things are rough until God gets us in the position, He has called us to.

We often quit too soon before God gets an opportunity to do His best work. Mounting up with wings like eagles sounds so good to me. Eagles fly very high and more often than not they fly alone. Sometimes what God is calling us to is a loner journey. When we are alone, we can hear God clearly and He does the work in us.

Running and not growing weary also sounds good. God can give us His strength and power. He can give us the abilities to do the hard things that seemed impossible and not grow weary reaching new heights.

Lastly, they shall walk and not faint sounds powerful. I am on a spiritual journey with God like all of us whether we realize it or not. It is a lot better when you realize that God is in control. When we do realize this, we can rest in His strength because His strength is endless. We will walk and faint when we try to do it in our strength. When we do it with God, we can walk this life out and feel faint, but God’s strength gets us to new heights.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Prayer is defined biblically as communion with God through an earnest or humble request or petition to God. Supplication and with thanksgiving all have similar meanings centered around partnering with God in prayer.

When we pray, we should also be listening. Prayer is not meant to be one-sided. The very act of praying about our circumstances allows God to help us. We must also be obedient to what God may be asking of us and partner with Him.

Renewing our strength relies on us understanding that we are refreshed through God’s endless reserve of power. No matter what you face or how big the mountain in front of you is God is your fortress. The power to go through the struggle is found in His word, prayer, fasting, faith and resting in Him. The eagle is one majestic bird compared to all other birds. You are unique just like the eagle.

The troubles of this world leave a lot of us anxious and severely stressed out. We fill weary and often turn to a lot of ungodly things that numb our issues but do not solve them. As we look at the above scripture it is one antidote for our troubles. This is what helps us to be renewed and refreshed. The eagle often flies alone but the eagle recognizes when to accompany a few other eagles and continue to fly high.

Often when the eagle needs to be renewed, He isolates himself to be refreshed. The eagle understands He needs that time alone. Don’t get so overwhelmed that you forget to seek God.

Renew your strength by resting in God and awaiting His instruction. He would love to spend time restoring, refreshing, and renewing you.
