Do it, Afraid!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love cast out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18).

Fear can be disabling. It is often the reason people start things and don’t complete them. It can also be the reason they don’t start at all. Fear of the unknown grips many of us on a daily basis. There are many fears in this world. Though there is so much to be feared, Jesus has overcome them all.

There are people who fear continuing to live or living at all because of what the past has been and what the future may hold. The truth is that fear can paralyze us. Though this is true, I encourage you to do it, afraid and unsure.

The unknown will always be scary. I would rather tackle the unknown and face challenges rather than feeling regret later on. There is a lot to be considered when going in blind or doing things afraid. I believe in Nike’s motivation, “just do it”.

No matter what we face, God is with us. Our strength and refuge are found in Him. Our ability to do things afraid is our faith in Him, not our own strength.

You may not know how to run the business, but by educating yourself, and trusting God, you can do it. You may be the first one to go to college, but with God’s help you will walk across that stage.

You may have failed at some things in life, but dust yourself off and start again. Set a new path for yourself and trust that God will help you get things right. Sometimes doing it afraid and unsure is the only option we have. God knew we would feel fear, but He doesn’t want us to be paralyzed by it.

Do it afraid and trust that God will help you conquer your greatest fears while achieving some of your biggest wins. Also, failing and being afraid is sometimes a part of the process. Though this is true do it anyway.
